ZYX 4D cartridges
September 25, 2009
this is a reply to some ZYX cartridge dealers postings indicating so called “ZYX 4D & ZYX ATMOS facts.” while ago when i first saw such postings, i informed sibatech, ZYX global agent that we have no way but replying to such postings. i waited a good while but nothing changed. so here is a brief comment on such postings which miss the following key points:
- at the end of the day, we do not really know the truth. this is why i have asked my customers to make their decision on the purchase of ZYX ATMOS independent of ZYX 4D (see details please);
- SORAsound price for ZYX ATMOS is about half the price of ZYX 4D. retail price for ZYX 4D copper is $4,580, ZYX 4D silver $4,850; and ZYX 4D gold $5,100. we are selling ZYX ATMOS for $2,495.00 with further discount if need be;
- why is the retail price of ZYX silver and gold coils so much more than copper coil when the distributor costs for ZYX 4D and ZYX omega are the same regardless of the coil?

Hi Mehran.
Can you please advice about ZYX cartridges and tonearm compatability.
I own a Maplenoll Signature turntable with an Airbearing tonearm, which is very much like the Eniment Technology (ET 2 Airbearing) tonearm.
Which ZYX cartridge is a better match to this tonearm – the Airy 3X or the 4D?
Thanks in advance.
Elli.
Hi Eli,
Dear Elli,
I had sold serial numbers higher than serial no C3902 almost a year ago.
Given that you had not bought the cartridge from me, i prefer it if you do the trade with the existing ZYX distributor or one of his dealers/friends…At this point I am focusing on my serving my existing customers. I will be happy to help you with other cartridges/products I carry.
Best wishes…
Mehran

Thanks much Mehran.
Here is an intruiging situation – I was able to purchase new and still sealed Airy3X SB, serial number C3902. (The owner said it is fairly new purchased in 2010?)
Will it be possible to exchange the airy3X with the ZYX 4D and additional cost? Or is it a stupid/irrelevant idea?
In any case, it had beem a pleasure talking with you, and thanks again for your time and input.

Dear Elli,
Thanks for your posting.
Both cartridges should be fine.
4D is certainly a better cartridges.
Best regards…
Dear Elli,
As I wrote while ago the cartridge is certainly not a 2010 production… i had sold later serial numbers while ago.
Who did you purchase the airy 3 from and how much?
Based on your current email that says you are going to contact the seller to see if an exchange is possible, it may be that you actually purchased your cartridge from an existing zyx dealer. if so, i prefer not to compete with them and let them do the trade with you. They have done some work selling the airy 3 to you. They deserve your business for the 4D as well.
Best wishes.

Hi Mehran.
Did you received my photo’s of the Airy3X SB Cartridge, Serial number C3902 (is it 2010 production ?)
And how much $$ you want for the exchange, if you are willing to do it at all?
(Per seller on Audiogon, The Airy 3X should be new in unopened box. )
I will await to hear from you befor contacting another seller to see if the exchage is possible.
Regards.Elli
